Learning an African language has been incredibly important to me as a means of reconnecting with my glorious African heritage. I have a great love and respect for Kiswahili. It is a beautiful language. For years I have studied inconsistently on my own with minimal progress. I needed a thorough academic environment with a fluent teacher. I found that with mwalimu Sayi Michael. I have not completed my studies yet, but I have already learned so much. He is very interactive and encouraging. The lessons are concise, precise, easy to follow, and fun. I know now I can reach fluency and I am so excited. I encourage anyone reading this to enroll. I have experienced both face to face classes in Dar es Salaam and Skype classes when I left Tanzania for a period. In both cases Sayi Michael have been flexible and have worked around my erratic schedule and the time difference for skype classes. The Swahili lessons have been well structured, encouraging and there has always been time to cover specific topics I wanted to refresh, or to talk about cultural differences. Despite sometimes long gaps between lessons, the lesson planning carried over between face to face learning, to skype and back again with reviews where necessary.
